Configurations

How do I know which table is best for my purpose?

While most of our table stands are adaptable to various scenarios – from private to business, and from home to office – some are specifically tailored to meet certain requirements. If you’re unsure about which solution suits your needs best, don’t hesitate to contact our customer care team. We’re here to assist you in configuring the perfect table for your specific requirements.

What are the ideal table measurements I should consider?

Our configurator contains advice on choosing the correct table top shape and size for your requirements and space. Please contact our customer care team should you need further advice.

How can I create a larger table configuration?

For configurations even bigger than those available through our table configurator, we recommend contacting our customer service for assistance. The DIN Plus Table is particularly well suited for large setups.

Can Faust produce special designs?

Faust can offer a number of solutions, beyond those available on our configurator, for special projects. These may include custom table top shapes, specific cut-outs, tailored cable management options, or special powder-coating colors. Please contact our customer care team with your request.

For a special table top shape please send a DXF and PDF 1:1 outline drawing with your message.

How stable is my table?

All Faust table tops are stable. This is because we carefully select the right core material for each design. You can contact our customer care for more information or visit our Edge Detailing Masterclass.

Should I opt for linoleum on both sides of a table top?

In general, it is not necessary to coat both sides of the table top with linoleum. In some cases, however, it is still done willingly: On a height adjustable table the bottom of the table can be visible, therefore adding matching linoleum improves the table’s overall appearance. For design flexibility and variation: If you intend to refresh the appearance of the table or create a different colour scheme in a room, a table top with two different linoleum surfaces offers variety. Should this use be desired, it is important to note that only table tops that do not require permanent attachment to a frame or legs can be considered.

Can I use linoleum as a countertop in my kitchen?

Yes, you can use linoleum as a countertop of your kitchen. Be aware that while linoleum is a durable surface that withstands the rigours of daily life, like many other natural materials, it is susceptible to damage from intense heat, moisture, or acid and needs to be protected accordingly. Be sure to protect your surface when needed with cutting boards and trivets.

You can configure your countertop using our table top configurator. For custom shapes or cut-outs for sinks and hobs, please send a 1:1 DXF and PDF outline drawing with your request.

Materials, colours, finishes

Can I receive a material sample set?

We offer a free sample set to all our customers to help in the selection of materials and colours. Each set includes all available shades of linoleum and oak wood veneer, along with two solid table top samples: one in plywood with a 25° edge profile, and one with an oak edge.

Sample sets are shipped within 1-2 days. Order your free set here.

Why should I choose a linoleum surface for my table?

Linoleum is a sustainable material made from natural and renewable raw ingredients. It excels in its unique combination of durability and visual appeal. The surface is soft, warm to the touch, and deeply tactile. Naturally anti-microbial and antistatic, it resists dust and dirt, staying hygienic and clean. Its quiet, low-maintenance character makes it well-suited for everyday use in living spaces like work spaces, dining rooms, or home offices. Over time, linoleum develops a beautiful patina, gaining character and individuality. Available in a wide range of rich, deep colours, linoleum tables, table tops and occasional furniture, easily adapt to your interior project.

Where does Faust source its materials?

Faust works with carefully selected suppliers who share our commitment to responsible manufacturing and help us deliver consistently high-quality products at accessible prices. We work with locally-based suppliers where possible. All our material partners are located within the EU.

We aim to be as transparent as possible about where we source our raw materials, how we make our products, and the ethical and environmental impacts of our manufacturing and distribution processes. Read more in Our Materials section.

Do you produce linoleum at Faust?

Linoleum is produced by Swiss company Forbo Flooring Systems, a long-standing partner with whom we share a commitment to realising the full potential and beauty of linoleum.

Is it possible to have white linoleum?

Linoleum is made from linseed oil, pine rosin, wood flour and limestone. Each of these ingredients has a naturally warm colour. Even when adding white pigment, it is not possible to override the natural tones of the original materials to achieve a brilliant white. Therefore it is not available. Colours 4176 Mushroom and 4177 Vapour are often used as alternatives to brilliant white.

What should I know about linoleum’s natural look?

Linoleum is made from natural raw materials (linseed oil, natural pine rosin, wood flour and limestone). Therefore, minor inclusions or subtle colour changes cannot be completely avoided in the final product. Faust removes any large contaminations that might be considered faults at the point of production. But minor inclusions are a recurring and natural feature of linoleum and therefore unavoidable. If your linoleum furniture features some small inclusions we encourage our customers to recognise these as a natural feature, like the grain of a wood, rather than fault. Read about the typical properties of Forbo furniture linoleum here.

My new linoleum furniture has an unfamiliar aroma, what is it?

Due to the materials used in the production of linoleum, linseed oil specifically, the material has a delicate aroma that is often first detected when unpacking your product. However, this aroma will quickly disappear.

My linoleum has a yellow hue, why?

During the maturing process, a yellowish colour develops on the surface of the linoleum (known as ‘drying room yellow’). It is especially visible on lighter shades. This is an entirely normal and natural phenomenon of linoleum, and the yellow hue disappears quickly after the product is exposed to direct natural light. This yellowing may occur again if the surface is covered with monitors, mouse pads, and similar items but can again be quickly reversed by exposing the area to direct sunlight. ‘Drying room yellow’ cannot be removed by cleaning, only exposure to direct sunlight will remedy the issue.

Do Faust surfaces change over time?

Our linoleum and wood veneer, like all natural materials, can age and alter over time developing a rich patina and unique character.

Over time, Pure Linoleum – which contains no added pigments – may naturally darken. This is due to the wood flour in its composition, which ages similarly to solid wood. It is an excellent choice for those who admire the beauty of naturally-aged materials.

Does linoleum have a finish?

Yes. Forbo Furniture Linoleum comes with a pre-applied water-based protective layer. This helps improve durability and provides resistance to scratches and stains. It contributes to the overall aesthetic appeal of the linoleum, offering a smooth and finished surface.

Care & Repair

How should I clean the linoleum surfaces?

Faust furniture is characterised by beautifully natural and hard-wearing surfaces that benefit from regular care. To make this simple for our customers, we’ve developed a CARE Kit for both routine cleaning and occasional nourishment. For detailed maintenance information, please visit our dedicated Care and Maintenance page.

Can I repair linoleum surfaces?

In case of a damaged linoleum surface please contact our customer care team with images of the damaged surface. Please include a visual size reference so our team can evaluate the issue and suggest the best option for you. Typically, this service is offered at no cost. But under certain circumstances we may need to send you a quote. In these cases, the quote will be based on cost price. Faust does not profit from this service.

Are spare parts available?

Spare parts can be purchased from the Spare Parts & Care page and easily replaced with few or no tools needed. Repairing Faust furniture extends its longevity, benefitting the owner and creating a more sustainable environment.
